Overdose on Exo: Lu Han
My last portrait was of The Hun.
This time, it’s The Han.
This drawing was entirely fueled by listening to Overdose by Exo over and over again.
Feels good man.

Overdose on Exo: Sehun
Hey everyone! After many months of really ironing out my digital art skills because I’ve taken an odd obsession to the medium, I realized I had never actually drawn a real portrait digitally! I’ve said in the past I’m a big proponent of learning to draw things from memory, and that’s how I usually go about drawing the things I do, but the past while I’ve been trying to use more reference and found that mixed with my increased technical diggie skills created great results.
A couple months in to this reference spree I came to that above realization. At the same time I had become addicted to the song “Overdose” by the K-pop band EXO. (I did caricatures of the entire membership of them a couple months back). So, in honor of my favourite band at the moment, I went to the old Google Images and found which of the 12 members had the best quality promo image for their upcoming MV release on the 15th, and what do you know, it’s Oh Sehun. And half way in to drawing this, I found out it was his 20th birthday as well a few days ago. A belated birthday coincidence to him! lolHope you enjoy my first digital portrait. ^_^

Season 2 of Iwatobi?

Ah yeah, hell yes. There’s going to be a season 2 of Free! Iwatobi Swim Club! It was like someone put onions underneath my eyes when I saw the finale of season one back in late September, so this is going to be incredible.

That’s one sexy hand, I’ll tell you what.
I was attempting to draw a male hand at first, but it ended up looking way too feminine, so I went that route instead. And, I think the fact I didn’t add any hair on to the knuckles and back of the hand works in with this being a female hand, so I’ll justify my laziness. This is just a study on trying to draw realism and attempt some form of still life using digital art. The great thing about drawing hands is that you can reference your own colours. I had a terrible time trying to work out shading patterns because I worked on this at different times of days and trying to keep this hypothetical hand looking feminine. I need consistency, damn it! And all without using the siren of Google Images and the even greater siren of just picking colours off an image with an eyedropper. I used to pull that shortcut a year ago with my first attempts at drawing anything close to realism, like my Castor drawing, but I forced myself to only use my eye and my own skin colour for this hand. Now that I think of it, I think this hand came out so womanly because I drew out a hand sketch first and my “cartoon” hands are anime-influenced. And by anime, I mean shoujo. Damn you, yaoi hands.

I was creating a huge compilation of humanized scenes from the episode “The Best Night Ever” from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic when I saw the small panel I’d put for Fluttershy wasn’t large enough and included just enough to have her in the net and Angel the bunny and looked weird. I thought my background perspective was off, enlarged the canvas, and drew a redline to determine what exactly made everything look so weird and thankfully it wasn’t the perspective, just that too much was cropped, or I hadn’t even considered should be in the scene to convey she wasn’t just in a floating net. So.. I forget exactly what happened at that point. I just started drawing a panel 4 times as large as the other ponies I’d drawn already and.. well, I had put so much effort in to the perspective, something I don’t do often that it ended up taking most of the past couple days. But, I’m very happy with the results of this as I put more effort in to the background than I had for any other drawings. It’s an accomplishment big time for me to see through a drawing like this to the end with all the components being up to how I envisioned them in my head.
